2004 - present Ultrasound-mediated
drug delivery into biological tissue The project includes treatment of cancer tumors in
animals using chemotherapeutic drugs, carried by specially designed micelles.
High-frequency ultrasound focused on the tumor is used to trigger a localized drug release and as an
enhancer of the intracellular drug uptake by cancer cells. Methods of flow cytometry and confocal
microscopy are used for monitoring the changes in the treated biological
tissue and cells.
